We have been now for two weeks at our first workaway host close to Sauce, a small city close to Montevideo.
In the beginning we thought staying with a small family. But then everyday new family members showed up. On the weekends normally more relatives were coming for food and socializing, and the local speciality asado (beef from the grill) is a must. Besides that, Tita and Coco, the two dogs are around all the time, and we were integrated warmly by everyone.
Our duties were taking care of the green house, building a water drain, planting bushes, and general household work. As there is no central heating, the fireplace has to be kept running also. The physical work outside at temperatures between 6 to 21 degrees was the desired alternative to the office work all the years before. It was a great experience.
We have been visiting also Montevideo and a wine yard. Uruguayan red wine is very good.
